The Work of Byron Katie

Stress, depression, anger, confusion... they usually follow a thought, after a belief.

We cannot choose our thoughts, but we can choose how to react on them and if we believe them.

A sane person might also have the thought „Maybe I should end my life“ but will not believe that the thought is a good idea.

What we do is investigating the thought

Is it true? (most of this thoughts come from our childhood and have never been checked). Does this thought assist me in my life or block me from life?

I cannot change the past, but I can change my way how I feel about it and I can stop to repeat unpleasant memories and expectations daily - and here starts our freedom!

Check out Katies multi-language page www.thework.com and watch her do the work with others on video or download in the resource page the 20 pages introduction (Extract of „Loving what is“ or „The little book“) and the work sheets.
I strongly recommend to do sessions with an experienced trainer, as it turns out that some concepts can be misunderstood and interpreted in a counterproductive way!.

Or check out on www.youtube.com for additional videos: „The work of Byron Katie“
Also there is a large collection of Audios of sessions in Spotify (and other channels:) At home with Byron Katie (weekly Zoom sessions which she does from her home)

Byron Katie

was deeply depressive and aggressive for 10 years.

One day she woke up without the memory of what she thought what was going wrong in her life. She rediscovered life without her former interpretations, without her story of what she thought she needs, without requests to the world and people how they should be.

A relaxed moment of complete peace. Since 1986 she started to share this experience, her awakening, with her method „The work“ with the public and many thousands of people have benefitted ever since from it.

The Work

is your questions to freedom. Meditating with an open mind through this questions you and your mind will investigate your beliefs and find out if they are really useful in your life for you.

- - - - - - - - -

  1. Is it true?
  2. Can you absolutely know that it's true?
  3. How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought?
  1. Who would you be without the thought?

Turn around the concept you are questioning, and be sure to find at least three genuine, specific examples of each turnaround.

Her very recommendable book titles tell it all :-)

„Loving what is“, „I need your love, is that true?“ and „Who would you be without your story?“
There is also other books.

My part:

The mind is quite tricky to escape the investigation: and its best trick to avoid The Work is to answer the questions. Because we need to allow the answers to come up from a deeper part of ourselves, connected to our emotions and with an open mind to find what we find. I will assist you to find your truth with a caring and loving presence and a clear focus how to efficiently use the method.

I live in Baden near Vienna but also am lots of time in Vienna in order to work with you.

It works also great via Skype. Plan roughly min. 45min -1:30 hour for a session.

The group meetings:

We will introduce to the work, its philosophy and its origins.

We will offer to work with 1-2 stressful thoughts in order to demonstrate the principle.

Finally we all will choose a disturbing thought that we are ready to share and work with with changing partners on it.

Extra tips:

If you don‘t know which thought to choose or what thought might be attached to a feeling just allow yourself to sink into that feelings and then give them a voice. The associated thought shall then be worked. It it does not yet seem to make sense to you just trust and start the work. Once you allow the answers to bubble up from your subconscious mind you will out.
